The right tool for the job

I borrowed a slide hammer from the local Checker auto tonight and got the pinion bearing races out of the rear end.  I have been looking for slide hammers all over town, since the kid at the checker counter told me over the phone that they did have any to loan or sell…I happened to be there for something else and found that they did have a loaner.  The races took about five minute to pull.  Now I will probably go over to the base to use their press to fit the new races/bearing and set up the gears.

I got part of the shock mounts welded up today.  I really need a bigger welding torch.  I was really pushing that Meco midget to the limit and the flame was so hard I kept blowing holes. But the welds look OK, and tomorrow I will weld it into the chassis.
